Alternative rights movement- often described as ‘Alt rights’ was first introduced by Paul Gottfried in late 2008. This movement is basically related to the right-wing policies and considered its extension. Alt right movement antagonizes the multi-ethnic culture, immigration, and the impression of world as a ‘Global Village’ and is a character of white-supremacy, fascism and other such rabid ideas. Alt right movement has its ties with anti-democratic ideologies.
Due to its extremist ideas, some of the right-wing politicians are pro-alt rights. But the mainstream is against such harsh policies. As Alt right movement is newly born, it’s lacking the basic keys, which make any movement successful and triumphant.
Problems with Alt Right Movement:
Some of the problems, which it is facing nowadays, are:
- Lack of organization.
- Inadequate public support.
- Flaws in ideology.
- Absence of staunch planning.
The print and electronic media has also been a dire critic of this campaign.
Benjamin Wallace-Wells transcribes it as “loosely assembled far-right movement”. It has been widely declared as racist and fascist by the general public. Its goals sometime scare the people who are strong supporters of liberal ideas and bringing nations and people together. Its ideology supports the extreme nationalism, which has never produced positive results in the past. It is a conflation of Donald Trump’s rhetoric and Zero Hedge’s politics – a blog that presents anti-establishment and despairing view of this world.
Although the scale of alt right is limited to few journalists and twitter activists now. Some are portraying it as a predecessor of a much larger force in the future. The question arises that why should we consider it evil? The simple answer would be that if you support free trade, internationalism, global immigration and are against racism and fascism then you should consider this movement toxic.
On the other hand, if you are advocating white supremacy, you should endorse it.
